Bronx Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Central Jersey Apartment House Shooting: Police

A 28-year-old fugitive from the Bronx has been arrested in connection with a shooting last spring at an apartment complex in Central Jersey, authorities said.

On May 2, 2021, at approximately 5:40 a.m, East Brunswick patrol officers responded to the North Lake Apartment Complex at 85 Main St. for the report of a motor vehicle crash and shots fired. An investigation found that a dispute between two men had taken place, which resulted in a motor vehicle crash and gunfire by a male suspect who fled the scene prior to police arriving.

East Brunswick Detective Alex Danese conducted a follow-up investigation and information developed identified the suspect as Sorel Thomas, police said. Warrants were issued for Thomas' arrest.

Thomas was arrested by NYPD detectives on Thursday, Feb. 10, according to East Brunswick police.

Thomas was taken to East Brunswick police headquarters, where he was processed and charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses, police said.

He was being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center.
